Initially, these groups consisted of three-man teams, and their tactics focused on flanking enemy trench positions. The soldiers were equipped with sharpened entrenching tools, daggers, bayonet knives, and grenades carried in large, specialised bags.

The experience gained from these early operations led to the formation of dedicated assault companies, which became permanent elements within German divisions. By 1918, many formations of the Imperial German Army had their own assault battalions, typically composed of assault companies, an infantry gun battery, light mortar units, and flamethrower detachments.

Assault troops often operated in conditions where chemical weapons were used. Although the German Army was the first to employ chemical warfare agents, the Allies soon caught up, and German soldiers themselves were forced to experience the effects of gas attacks.

Key Features

A German Army assault unit (Sturmtruppen) from the late First World War, wearing gas masks and advancing from a trench

The equipment and weapons of German assault units are reproduced in detail

The trench features wooden reinforcements, benches, and a ladder

The set depicts a dynamic scene of Sturmtruppen in action during a gas attack

Model Information

Scale: 1:35

Number of Parts: 34 + 45 + 44 (123 total)

Number of Figures: 4

Includes detailed assembly instructions

Highly detailed sprues with high accuracy made from quality plastic

EAN: 4823044412105

Carton quantity: 20

Box size: 247 x 183 x 33 mm

At a glance

Scale: 1:35

Type: Assembly Kit

Subject: Figures

Nation: German

Era: 1914-1918 - World War I

Brand: ICM

Product code: ICM35723

Supplied unassembled and unpainted.
