Its serial production was started in 1938, the same year it was the combat debut of this aircraft. The Ki-21 bomber, also designated “Army Type 97 Heavy Bomber”, was a twin-engine all-metal monoplane with a crew of 6 people.

It had excellent aerodynamics, which allowed it to develop a high speed during the flight. The Ki-21-Ib variant aircraft was the second production modification of the Ki-21 bomber line and featured increased machine gun armament (including a tail machine gun point), partially protected fuel tanks and modified taillights. Bombers were produced by two factories – Nakajima and Mitsubishi.

Model Features

ICM's first model kit of the Ki-21 bomber

Exact copy of the prototype geometry

Detailed elements of fuselage glazed parts

Two options of defence weaponry

Includes decals for four marking options

Markings Available

Ki-21-lb 'Sally', 60th Sentai (60th AirGroup), China, summer 1940

Ki-21-lb 'Sally', 60th Sentai 3rd Chutai (60th Air Group 3rd Squadron), China, late 1940

Ki-21-lb 'Sally', 58th Sentai (58th AirGroup), Harbin, December 1940

Ki-21-Ib 'Sally', 105 Kyoiku Hiko Rentai (105th Training Flight Regiment), Hamamatsu, presumably 1942

Model Information

Scale: 1:72

Number of Parts: 163 pieces

Length: 228 mm

Height: 314 mm

Includes detailed assembly instructions

Highly detailed sprues with high accuracy made from quality plastic

Box size: 294 x 230 x 58 mm

At a glance

Scale: 1:72

Type: Assembly Kit

Subject: Aircraft

Nation: Japanese

Era: 1939-1945 - World War II

Brand: ICM

Product code: ICM72203

Supplied unassembled and unpainted.
