The Lore
The Chaos Space Marines are the Imperium's original sin: the traitor Legions and renegade Chapters who followed Horus into damnation, and their inheritors ten thousand years on. From the Black Legion of Abaddon the Despoiler to a hundred lesser warbands, they are everything the Astartes are — unbound by oath, conscience or restraint.
Each warband bargains with the Dark Gods on its own terms, taking marks, mutations and daemon-gifts as payment for atrocity. The Long War is their religion, and its only commandment is vengeance.

The most flexible force in the game's dark half: Chaos Space Marines mix durable Astartes infantry, daemon engines, cultist chaff and devastating characters into whatever shape you fancy, with marks of Chaos tuning units toward blood, filth, sorcery or speed.
