The sandy upper tone of the RAF Desert Scheme. RAF Middle Stone was one of the upper-surface colours worn from late 1941 into 1944–45 across Desert Air Force fighters and bombers. Combined with Dark Earth over an Azure Blue underside, it's the colour that says North Africa — Desert Spitfires, Hurricanes, Kittyhawks and Bostons.
