Everything a new 40K painter needs to start, in one box

Every Warhammer hobby starts the same way: a pile of grey plastic and the itch to bring it to life. This is the box that gets you there. Built for the 11th edition of Warhammer 40,000, the Paints + Tools Set packs the essential colours and the kit to prep your miniatures into one tidy starter — no guesswork, no hunting round for the right clippers. If you (or someone you're buying for) are painting a first model, this is the sensible place to begin.
What's in the box
13 Warhammer Colour paints (12ml pots)
1 Warhammer Colour Starter Brush
1 pair of Starter Set Clippers — rubberised grip, spring-loaded handles to cut hand strain
1 mould line scraper, sized to reach the tight spots
Shade (1): Agrax Earthshade — instant depth in the recesses
Texture (1): Armageddon Dust — a quick, characterful base finish
Eleven heavily pigmented Base colours give you a strong foundation to paint almost any faction, the Shade does the shading for you, and the Texture turns bare bases into battlefield in one coat. It's the core of a hobby toolbox you'll keep coming back to long after the first model's done.

What's in the Warhammer 40,000 Paints + Tools Set?
13 Warhammer Colour paints in 12ml pots, a Starter Brush, Starter Set Clippers with a rubberised grip and spring-loaded handles, and a mould line scraper sized to reach tight spots. The paints are 11 Base colours — Abaddon Black, Corax White, Mephiston Red, Macragge Blue, Averland Sunset, Orruk Flesh, Mournfang Brown, Zandri Dust, Rakarth Flesh, Retributor Armour and Leadbelcher — plus Agrax Earthshade for instant depth and Armageddon Dust to turn bare bases into battlefield in one coat.
Should I buy this or a starter set first?
This box has no miniatures in it — it's the paints and tools to work on models you already have or are buying alongside. If you're starting from nothing, a starter set gets you models, rules and a battlefield; several of ours bundle this exact kit in and save you a few pounds against buying both.
Are the clippers and scraper actually worth having?
Yes — they're the two tools that stop a first model looking like a first model. Clippers free the parts cleanly instead of tearing them, and the mould line scraper tidies the seam that runs across every plastic kit and shows up badly once paint goes on. They're the bits most beginners don't know to buy.
Not to make a start — these are heavily pigmented Base paints designed to cover bare plastic. A spray undercoat is still the single biggest upgrade to a beginner's results: it makes every coat after it easier and the finish far tougher. Buy one when you've painted your first model and want the second to look better.
Enough to paint a good number of models to a clean tabletop standard, but not a full army — 12ml pots go further than people expect, though a horde will empty the workhorse colours first. What this really gives you is a foundation broad enough to paint almost any faction, and you top up the two or three colours you actually get through.
Are these the same paints as the full Citadel range?
Yes — standard 12ml pots, not a watered-down starter formula. Whatever's in the box you can buy again individually and top up as you go, and it'll behave exactly the same on the model.
