Weathering products include Warhammer Colour Technical paints like Typhus Corrosion and Ryza Rust, AK Interactive weathering effects, Dirty Down rust and moss products, Abteilung 502 oil paints, pigment powders, and chipping fluids.

A simple rust effect uses Warhammer Colour Typhus Corrosion as a base, drybrushed with Ryza Rust on top. For more advanced rust, AK Interactive rust effects or Dirty Down Rust give highly realistic results with minimal effort.

For enamel-based weathering products, yes — apply a gloss varnish first to protect the underlying paint. For water-based weathering like Warhammer Colour Technical paints, no separate sealing layer is needed.

The easiest starting points are Typhus Corrosion and Ryza Rust for rust effects, Agrax Earthshade applied heavily around boots and lower armour for mud and grime, and edge chipping applied with a sponge using a dark metallic paint.
