Warhammer Tone Pro is Games Workshop's numbered paint system: 30 colours, each in five tones from 1 (darkest) to 5 (lightest) – 150 paints in total. Shade down a number, highlight up a number, and every colour on your model has a ready-made ladder from shadow to highlight.

Tone 1 is the darkest and tone 5 the lightest, so the highlight for the colour you've just basecoated is the same colour with a higher number on the lid. No paint chart, no guesswork, and no more ten minutes stood in front of the rack wondering what goes over Mephiston Red.

GW pitches Tone Pro as one paint for every technique – basecoating, layering, highlighting, glazing and drybrushing from the same pot – with strong first-coat coverage, calling out the notoriously stubborn yellows and whites by name. Two mediums sit alongside the paints: a Shading Medium that turns any Tone Pro colour into a shade or glaze, and a Blending Medium that slows drying so you get longer to blend.
