UK independent retailers sell the same boxes for less, and this guide shows you how to compare them properly: price, yes, but also delivery, returns, stock and rewards. Buy from Games Workshop directly when you need something only they sell. For everything else, buy from a UK independent and pay less than RRP. The well-known names include Element Games, Wayland Games, Firestorm Games, Goblin Gaming, Zatu and, yes, us. Because the price gaps between independents are usually small and move week to week, the real decision comes down to shipping, dispatch speed, returns and rewards. We'll get to that.
Buying Warhammer from Games Workshop directly
GW's own website and stores charge full RRP, every time. You're not paying that for better service — you're paying it for access. Buy direct when you want web-exclusive miniatures, Made to Order resurrections of ancient sculpts, or a chat with your local store manager who will absolutely remember your name and your pile of shame.
For anything that isn't an exclusive, buying from GW at RRP is the cardboard equivalent of paying full price for a sofa at DFS. The independents exist for a reason. Use them.
Buying Warhammer from UK independent retailers
Independent UK retailers are the sensible default for most purchases. Typical examples:
- Element Games, Wayland Games, Firestorm Games and Goblin Gaming: established hobby retailers with large Games Workshop ranges.
- Zatu Games: a board game specialist that also stocks Warhammer.
