Age of Sigmar Battletome Roadmap

A running tracker for Warhammer Age of Sigmar battletomes — what's out, what's on pre-order, and what Games Workshop has actually committed to. We keep confirmed information and rumour firmly apart, because on this game in particular the gap between the two is wide.

Where the edition stands

• Current edition: Age of Sigmar 4th Edition, launched with the Skaventide box — pre-orders 29 June 2024, released 13 July 2024.
• 5th Edition: not announced. There is a persistent rumour (see below) and nothing more.
• Latest battletome: Sons of Behemat, released 26 September 2026.
• Next battletome: two are announced and neither has a date — the all-new Khazalite Holds (which absorbs the Fyreslayers) and a new Seraphon book, both revealed at the Big Autumn Preview on 18 September 2026.
• Latest balance update: the quarterly Battlescroll went live on 23 September 2026. Infantry heroes can now be included in regiments, many units have had reinforcement restrictions lifted, and there are faction adjustments across Fyreslayers, Idoneth Deepkin, Cities of Sigmar, Skaven, Slaves to Darkness, Helsmiths of Hashut, Nighthaunt, Ossiarch Bonereapers, Soulblight Gravelords and Sons of Behemat. Battletome tracker

Release years for earlier 4th Edition battletomes are compiled from trade listings and community trackers rather than a Games Workshop schedule, so treat the individual months as approximate. The status column is what matters.

Khazalite Holds — announced, no date

Revealed at the Big Autumn Preview, 18 September 2026. Games Workshop has given no pre-order or release date, and nobody else has one either. GW ran a follow-up Q&A on 2 October 2026 that discussed the Khazalite Holds at length and still did not name a date.

The first genuinely new Age of Sigmar faction in years: ancestor-worshipping duardin built around stone, oaths and standing still while everything else breaks on you. It arrives as an Army Set.

• Army Set contents: Hjulda Drakkblud, ten Clanshields, two Gholems of Gazul, an Oathkeeper Cannon, and the battletome in a special cover with 53 warscroll cards.
• Shown for the wave after: Thrynn and the Runewright, High Kyng Valankrom on the War Throne, Clangunners with rifles and shotcannons, the Stonebreaker Mortar (an alternative build of the cannon), Valayan Guardians, and the Gholems of Valaya (an alternative build of the Gazul kit).
• Fyreslayers are in this book. They become the Grimmdron within the Khazalite Holds battletome rather than getting a standalone tome, and they get new kit with it: the Ormyr and Ashtongue beastmaster pair, Fjori's Regiment of Renown (usable by any Order army) and a Magmic Fyrd Spearhead box.
• Where they've been, per GW's October Q&A: the Khazalid empire fractured during the Age of Chaos under successive invasions, and the survivors scattered — some became the Kharadron, some fell to Chaos, and one group escaped into the Realm of Death. It is that group now emerging to reclaim ancestral holds as Chaos pulls back. Useful for anyone wondering how a brand-new duardin faction squares with the ones already on the shelf.

What this means if you own Fyreslayers: stop waiting for a standalone battletome, because it isn't coming. That reads as bad news and mostly isn't — the army has never had the unit count to carry its own book comfortably, and being part of a larger duardin range means new kits it would never have got alone. The one thing to watch is how the Grimmdron rules interact with the Holds' own; GW hasn't shown that yet.

Seraphon — announced, no date

Revealed at the Big Autumn Preview, 18 September 2026. No date announced.

• Blessed Tetaxi, Prophet of Tepok — a skink seer riding the flying titan Ma'toq, in an ornate chair built around the beast's tail. The centrepiece of the wave.
• A new battletome with new battle traits built around “Interpret the Great Plan” and two new Armies of Renown.
• Spearhead: Claws of Tepok — Skink Starseer, 12 Skinks, 3 Terradon Riders and 3 Ripperdactyl Riders.
• Regiment of Renown: Horns of Quetzl — a Stegadon Chief and a Stegadon.

Sons of Behemat — out now

Released Saturday 26 September 2026. Four boxes of Gargants and a new battletome, and it was a bigger wave than the reveal suggested.

• Ma Maegran, Chooser of the Mighty — the Gargant witch who grants or strips the blessing of size, with two Ancient Ghyrochs in the kit. She gets her own Lore of Behemat spells.
• Boss-Stompers — three of the new mid-sized Gargants (between a Mancrusher and a Mega-Gargant), each also building as a boulder-throwing Rock-hurler. This box is also the faction's Spearhead.
• Stomper Tribe — one Warstomper Mega-Gargant and three Mancrusher Gargants with their own Army of Renown rules. While stocks last.
• Brawlers of Behemat — the standalone two-Mega-Gargant duelling box (each builds as a Gatebreaker, Kraken-Eater or Warstomper) with Embergard ruins and barricades, damage dashboards and a fifteen-minute one-on-one game. Both giants are ordinary kits and go straight into a Sons of Behemat army afterwards. While stocks last.
• Battletome: Sons of Behemat — standard hardback, plus a Gamer's Edition bundled with 33 warscroll cards (while stocks last). Separate warscroll cards and a 16-dice set alongside. King Brodd remains in the range.

How the army plays: GW's rules preview showed a push-your-luck faction. In the movement, charge and combat phases and at the end of the turn you pick units, name a number and roll a D6 to activate them. The safe play is a D3 of mortal damage on a 2+; the greedy play is to build momentum — Boss-Stompers earn Strike-first by the combat phase, and Mega-Gargants can “prep the big one” by banking dice across the turn and rolling them all at the end, where any 1 fumbles the lot. There are new battle formations, heroic traits, Realm-shaking Rampages (one of them, Rancid Flatulence, caps enemy control scores at 1) and artefacts including the Massive Stuffin' Sack. Note that the 23 September Battlescroll adjusted the faction three days before release — check the current points before you build a list.

Buying advice: two of the four Gargant boxes and the Gamer's Edition are while-stocks-last, so if you want the Stomper Tribe or Brawlers, don't sit on it. Ma Maegran, the Boss-Stompers and the standard battletome are range releases and will stay available.

Ogor Mawtribes — out now

Thirteen kits and a new battletome, the largest Age of Sigmar wave of the year. The Army Set landed 1 August and the main wave shipped 29 August; everything is now general release.

• Characters: Morga the Mighty (also builds as a Tyrant on Glutthorn), Redd the Maw the High Slaughtermaster, Grell Firefist, Butcher
• Units: Gluttons, Ironguts, Cleavers and Maulbeast Raiders (both dual-build kits), Hunters with Sabrefangs
• Plus: Okar's Torrbad Regiment of Renown, Battletome: Ogor Mawtribes, Ogor Mawtribes Dice

White Dwarf 528 carries an Ogor Mawtribes battle report against the Ossiarch Bonereapers and a painting guide, if you want a look at the army on the table before committing.

Warhammer Heroes: Cities of Sigmar

Seven blind-box push-fit heroes — Arch-Knight Kenzo the Drake-Blade, Colour-Bearer Brigson, Wildercorps hunter Caul Durnan, Forgepriest Brother Belias, Pyrocaster Ignus Sharn, Fusil-Trooper Brenwick, and one still unrevealed. Coming to selected retailers “later in the year”, still no date.

Worth knowing before you commit: Games Workshop has stated outright that a full display of eight boxes does not guarantee all seven models. Buy them for the fun of the blind box, not as a collecting exercise.
