Sepia is the warm, subtle wash that adds age and depth without the harshness of black — a favourite for wood, leather, bone and earthy tones. Flow it over a painted model and it settles into the recesses, leaving a soft, natural-looking shadow and a lovely warmth across the surface. Ideal for anything that wants to look weathered rather than stark.
Best for
Wood, leather, bone and earthy tones
Warm, natural shading that avoids harsh contrast
Ageing terrain, wooden bases and dioramas
Use it where black would be too heavy — sepia keeps your lighter tones warm and believable while still adding real depth.
Warm, natural shading straight from the bottle. Pairs perfectly with the wider Vallejo wash range and your weathering effects.
