FS 36495 is the pale underside grey that shows up across US Navy and USMC tactical schemes — the lighter half of the two-tone split on early F/A-18s and A-4 Skyhawks, and still doing duty on naval helicopters today. AK's Real Colors line is a lacquer-based paint developed from real reference samples for proper colour accuracy, and it's built to run through an airbrush without a fight.
Best for
Undersides on 1980s-era US Navy and USMC tactical grey schemes
Naval helicopter tactical colours
Any build calling for an accurate FS 36495 match
Thin it with AK's own High Compatibility Thinner, load the airbrush and it lays down smooth and self-levelling, drying to a soft, realistic finish that holds up well once you start weathering over the top.
The pale half of a Navy tactical scheme. Pick up the darker companion greys from the full AK Real Colors range.
