Army Painter Quickshade is the great shortcut that changed tabletop painting — a rich, varnish-based shade that flows into every recess in a single pass, instantly adding depth and definition. Strong Tone is the do-it-all middle ground: a heavy brown shade that gives deep, dramatic shading and looks superb over reds, desert yellows and all manner of greens. If in doubt, this is the one.
Best for
Deep, dramatic all-round shading
Reds, desert yellows and greens
Dipping or brushing onto a whole model quickly
The most versatile of the three tones — when you're not sure which to reach for, Strong Tone rarely puts a foot wrong.
The fast track to a finished army. Follow up with a matte varnish to knock back the shine.
