Yolopark makes model kits for people who don't really want to build a model kit. That sounds like a dig, but it's the whole point. AMK kits come as pre-coloured chunks you click together over an evening, with no glue, paint or cutting, and you end up with a properly poseable 20cm Optimus Prime or Evangelion on your shelf.
We'll be upfront: our Yolopark range is small, a handful of kits rather than a wall of them. So this isn't a "buy everything" guide. It's a "what are these things, and are they for you?" guide, with honest comparisons to Gunpla and to ordinary Transformers toys.

Who are Yolopark?
Yolopark was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in Hong Kong, with further offices in mainland China and the US. The name is a mash-up of "YOLO" (you only live once) and "park", the idea being a playground for adults and kids alike. Yes, really. It's still a better origin story than most corporate rebrands.
The company specialises in licensed toys and model kits, and its biggest partnership by far is Transformers, which it has been working on since 2016. It has also done Evangelion, Minions, Shurato, Jujutsu Kaisen and, slightly incongruously, Peppa Pig. If you know Yolopark at all, it's almost certainly for its Transformers kits.
The ranges, explained in plain English
Yolopark's main line is AMK, which stands for Assembly Model Kit. There are two tiers.
- AMK Series: the standard kits. Around 20cm tall once built, moulded in colour, with interchangeable hands and basic weapons. Our Evangelion Eva-01 is £30.99 at the time of writing, which makes it the cheapest way to try the format.
- AMK PRO Series: the upgraded version. Still around 20cm, but with more paint and weathering, more accessories, and on many kits die-cast metal parts and light-up features (Yolopark's G1 Optimus Prime AMK PRO, for example, has LED eyes switched on with a magnet in his rifle). Check the individual listing for what each kit includes. Our AMK PRO Transformers run from £76.99 (G1 Bumblebee) to £103.99 (Optimus Prime from the Bumblebee movie), with Soundwave at £92.99, Rise of the Beasts Mirage at £93.99 and Arcee at £81.99, the 2007 movie Ironhide at £102.99 and Age of Extinction Drift at £84.99.
Yolopark also makes other kits and finished collectibles, but at the time of writing AMK is what we carry.
What AMK kits actually are (and aren't)
Yolopark describes its kits as "pre-assembled", which is a bit of a stretch. Here's what you're getting, checked against Yolopark's own FAQ and independent reviews.
Is it really no glue?
- Yes: Yolopark's FAQ says some assembly is required but it's mostly attaching armour, weapons and accessories to sub-assemblies, not building from hundreds of loose parts. Reviewers and collectors consistently report no glue, no paint and no cutting from runners.
- What it feels like: one collector compared them to Lego Bionicle more than a traditional model, which is about right. Big pre-formed sections, clear instructions, lots of satisfying clicks.
- Tools: you don't need any. A tidy table and a tray to stop tiny hands rolling away is plenty.
Does it transform?
- No. Yolopark is explicit that its Transformers kits can't be transformed. They're articulated display figures in robot mode. If transforming is the whole appeal for you, buy a Transformers toy instead; our Transformers collection has plenty.
- Why that's not a bad thing: because nothing has to fold into a car, the robot mode can be in proportion. No car doors on the back, no truck wheels on the shins where they shouldn't be. It looks like the robot on screen.
How hard is it?
- Easy: genuinely beginner-friendly. If you can follow flat-pack furniture instructions without crying, you'll be fine. A reviewer of the AMK PRO Optimus Prime said no modelling skills were needed.
- Time: an evening rather than a weekend.
- Posing: articulation is a strong point. Hips, chest and individual fingers move on the PRO kits, and joints under stress tend to pop out rather than snap, according to one detailed review. Some buyers do report loose finger joints, so be gentle.
AMK versus Gunpla
- Gunpla is a proper model kit. You cut parts from runners, clean up nub marks, and on higher grades you build an inner frame part by part. It's a hobby in itself, and the building is the point.
- AMK is closer to a premium action figure that you finish yourself. Less building, less skill, less satisfaction if you love the craft. Much less time.
- Who wins? If you enjoy building, Gunpla, without question. Our Gunpla collection is a lot bigger. If you want a film-accurate Optimus Prime on the shelf by bedtime with the fun of putting him together, AMK.
Somewhere in the middle are Kotobukiya's girl kits: snap-fit and pre-coloured, but cut from runners like Gunpla. Our Kotobukiya guide explains what those are like to build.

So which one should you buy?
If you've never built anything
- Start with the AMK Evangelion Eva-01 at £30.99. It's cheap and quick, and it'll tell you whether the format is for you before you spend more.
If you're a Transformers film fan
- Optimus Prime from the Bumblebee movie (£103.99) is the pick. That film's designs are the closest the live-action films got to G1, and he looks the part.
- Soundwave (£92.99) from the same film makes a natural partner.
- Bayverse fans: 2007 Ironhide (£102.99) or Age of Extinction Drift (£84.99).
If you want a classic G1 look
- G1 Bumblebee at £76.99 is the cheapest of our AMK PRO kits.
If it's a gift
- AMK is a great gift for a Transformers fan who's curious about models but would never pick up a pot of glue. It's a few hours of building with a finished figure at the end.
- Rise of the Beasts Arcee (£81.99) or Mirage (£93.99) for someone who loved the most recent film.
If you're on a budget
- The standard AMK Eva-01 at £30.99. The PRO kits are a different price bracket.
How ordering works with us
Like most of our collectibles, Yolopark kits are listed as pre-orders we bring in especially for you. You order, we order it in from our European distributor, and it ships to you when it lands. New releases have release windows, and some kits come back as re-runs.
Check each product page for its availability and timing. Pre-ordering also saves you from paying silly resale prices later for a kit that's sold out. See everything we can bring in at Pre-Order On Demand and Collectibles Pre-Orders.
The honest bit: what we'd swerve
- Expecting it to transform: it won't. We'll keep saying it, because it's the most common disappointment with this format.
- Expecting a "proper" model kit: if you've built Master Grade Gundams and want a challenge, this will feel like a jigsaw for toddlers. That's not what it's for.
- Assuming every AMK PRO has lights and metal: many do, not all. Read the product listing before you buy for one particular feature.
- Forcing the fingers: the articulated hands are a highlight, but they're small. Ease them into position rather than wrenching them.
- Paying over the odds after release: if a kit you want has gone, wait for a re-run before paying a reseller a premium.
- Window sills: painted plastic and direct sun don't mix. Keep Optimus away from the window.
The short version
- Yolopark is a Hong Kong licensed-toy maker, founded in 2009, best known for Transformers.
- AMK means Assembly Model Kit. No glue, no paint, no cutting.
- AMK PRO adds paint, accessories and, on many kits, die-cast parts and lights.
- They do not transform. They're poseable robot-mode display figures.
- Far easier than Gunpla, and far less building.
- Our range is small. The Eva-01 at £30.99 is the cheapest way to try one.
See the current line-up in our Yolopark collection. If you get the building bug, move on to Gunpla and kit yourself out from our hobby tools. For figures that do transform, head to Transformers.
Final thought: AMK is the model kit for people who want the finished robot more than the build. Know which person you are and you won't go wrong.
