Space Marine Core Units
Chapter-agnostic kits — Intercessors, Terminators, tanks and heroes that muster into any Space Marine army.
About Space Marine Core Units — Lore & How They Play
The Lore
This is the shared armoury of the Adeptus Astartes: the Intercessors, Terminators, Dreadnoughts, gunships and grav-tanks that every Chapter draws on. Whatever heraldry you paint them in, these are the units the Codex Astartes was written around — the backbone of ten thousand years of Imperial warfare.
They are also your licence to invent. Paint them in the colours of your own successor Chapter and no loremaster in the galaxy can tell you you're wrong.
On the Tabletop
Every Space Marine army leans on these kits: durable troops to hold objectives, versatile fire support, and elite hammers like Terminators to break the enemy line. They slot into any Chapter's rules and detachments unchanged.
Starting out? Build your core here first — troops, a leader, one big threat — then add your chosen Chapter's signature units for flavour.
Every Space Marine army is built on the same foundation, and this is where you'll find it. Our Space Marine Core Units collection brings together the Chapter-agnostic kits of the Adeptus Astartes — Intercessors, Hellblasters, Terminators, Tactical Squads, Dreadnoughts, transports and characters — the units that field for any Codex Chapter.
Whether you're marching Ultramarines, Imperial Fists, Iron Hands, Black Templars, or your own homebrew successor, these kits slot straight into your detachment without locking you into a single Chapter. It's the smartest way to build a flexible foundation: ideal for new collectors starting their first force, veterans bulking out a second army, or anyone who wants maximum reuse across multiple Astartes projects.

Roughly 80% of a competitive Space Marine list is made up of these universal datasheets. Buy them once and they'll serve every Chapter you ever paint — so you're never re-buying the same Intercessors when you start a new army. They're also the best-value entry point for newcomers: the Codex, a Troops choice, a transport and a Dreadnought give you a playable force that grows in any direction.
What's in the collection
You'll find the full Primaris core — Intercessors, Assault Intercessors, Infiltrators, Hellblasters, Aggressors, Inceptors and Outriders — alongside hard-hitting elites like Bladeguard Veterans and Terminator Squads, the full Dreadnought range (Redemptor, Ballistus, Brutalis), transports and tanks including the Land Raider and Gladiator, plus characters and the all-important Codex: Space Marines. Add Chapter-specific units afterwards to give your force its character.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Every kit in this collection uses the universal Space Marines datasheets in Codex: Space Marines, so they're legal in Ultramarines, Imperial Fists, Iron Hands, Black Templars, Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves and any homebrew successor Chapter.
They do. Those Chapters have their own unique units on top of the core range — but they still field the standard Astartes units shown here. Core units form the backbone; Chapter units add the flavour.
Begin with the Codex: Space Marines plus a squad of Intercessors, a transport and a Dreadnought. That gives you a small playable force you can expand in any direction. Our team in Barry are always happy to help you pick.
The Codex contains the full rules, datasheets and detachments for Space Marines. It's strongly recommended for matched play, though free core rules are available from Games Workshop to get started.
