Arcana Unleashed (Alternate Cover): Dungeons & Dragons

Same book, better shelf. This is the alternate art cover edition of Arcana Unleashed, D&D's high-magic sourcebook — identical contents inside, wrapped in the collector's cover. If you are the sort who lines the spines up and actually cares how the row looks, this is the one to grab, and the standard edition is the one to lend out.

What's inside

• 8 new subclasses drawn from powerful arcane traditions
• 33 new and revised spells, including some long-missed returning favourites
• 47 magical items, among them evolving relics that grow in power as your character levels
• 19 magical creatures, from useful allies to things that very much want you dead
• 9 arcane factions and 6 group patrons to hang a whole campaign on
• Tomb of the Shadow Serpents — an introductory adventure good for one to two sessions

Best for

• Collectors who want the alternate cover run kept complete
• Players building a specialist caster with somewhere new to go
• DMs who want magic to be a force in the setting, not just a resource on a character sheet

Rules-wise there is nothing to choose between the two editions — this is purely about which cover you want facing out when someone clocks your bookcase.
