Battletech: A Game of Armored Combat 40th Anniversary

Forty years of big stompy robots, and BattleTech is still the armoured combat game to beat. This 40th anniversary edition of A Game of Armored Combat is the complete starter: eight classic BattleMechs, the full rules, maps and dice — everything two players need to start trading autocannon fire the evening it arrives. And unlike most miniatures games, the 'Mechs come fully assembled, so there's no hobby homework before the first shot is fired.

What's in the box

• 8 fully assembled, unpainted 'Mechs: Awesome, BattleMaster, Catapult, Commando, Locust, Shadow Hawk, Thunderbolt and Wolverine
• Full-colour rulebook, record sheets and 8 double-sided MechWarrior pilot cards
• 8 double-sided dry-erase Alpha Strike cards for faster games
• Two 18" × 22" double-sided mapsheets and two six-sided dice
• Universe primer plus the novella Eyestorm to set the scene
• New for the 40th anniversary: ilClan-era rules, record sheets and primer

How it plays

• Pilot multi-tonne war machines where every hit location, heat spike and ammo explosion matters
• Classic hex-and-record-sheet wargaming — crunchy, tactical and endlessly replayable
• Alpha Strike cards included for quicker, streamlined battles

Whether you're returning after decades away or piloting your first Locust, this is the definitive way in — and the ilClan extras mean it covers the modern era too.

Everything you need to play is in the box. Add a set of Army Painter paints and your lance will look as dangerous as it fights.
