Genestealer Cults
The enemy within — four-armed prophets, mining lasers and a very bad day for the Imperium.
About Genestealer Cults — Lore & How They Play
The Lore
Before the hive fleets arrive, the Genestealers come: infiltrating hive cities, founding families, spreading their gene-taint through generations of hybrids until whole worlds worship a Star Saviour they don't know is an appetite. When the uprising comes, it comes from everywhere at once — the miners, the clerks, the police.
The tragedy is that the cultists believe. Right up until the bio-ships arrive, and the faithful learn what salvation actually looks like.
On the Tabletop
Ambush and deception: Genestealer Cults deploy from tunnels and hidden reserves, strike with mining tools and shotguns from impossible angles, then melt away to attack again. Your opponent fights the whole battle half-blind.
They're fragile and the trickery takes practice, but no army rewards planning quite like it — a game of feints where the real attack is always the one your opponent stopped watching. For players who want to win in the reveal.
The Genestealer Cults are the enemy within: hybrid descendants of a Genestealer infestation, hiding in plain sight among Imperial miners and workers until the day of the uprising. Mining lasers, rock drills, ambushes from below and a brilliantly sinister family resemblance.

Are Genestealer Cults Tyranids?
They're a separate army with their own codex, but they're secretly preparing the way for the Tyranid Hive Fleets.
Can I use Astra Militarum models in a cult?
The cult corrupts Imperial forces, Brood Brothers included, so converted guardsmen are very much in theme.
Do Genestealer Cults use ambushes?
Yes. Many units can hide and appear mid-battle, which makes the army tricky and fun to play.
