Burnt Sienna is one of the most useful weathering tones going — a rich, warm red-brown that reads as fresh rust, oxidised metal and clay-rich earth. This ultra-fine Vallejo pigment brushes on dry for subtle streaks and dustings, or fixes in place for deeper rust runs and caked dirt. It's a staple on any weathering bench, whether you're battering a tank or muddying a fantasy base.
Best for
Fresh rust streaks and oxidised metal
Warm, clay-rich earth and mud
Blending with other pigments for varied tones
Mix it with browns and blacks and you can dial in exactly the shade of grime a scene calls for.
The warm rust every weatherer needs. Team with Pigment Binder and earth-toned washes for the full effect.
