Dirty Down is a British brand producing specialist weathering effect products including rust, moss, and verdigris. They are designed to create realistic aged and weathered appearances on miniatures, terrain, and scale models quickly and easily.
The main Dirty Down range includes Rust Effect, Moss Effect, and Verdigris Effect products, each creating a specific type of realistic weathering that would be difficult to replicate with conventional paints.
Apply Dirty Down to the model surface while wet and manipulate with a brush to achieve the desired effect. The products can be blended, concentrated in areas, or spread thinly. They dry to a matte, realistic finish.
Yes — Dirty Down is particularly popular for Warhammer terrain, ruins, and scenery pieces. Rust Effect is excellent for metal buildings and vehicles, Moss for aged stone walls, and Verdigris for bronze or copper statues.
A light matt varnish coat after Dirty Down effects have dried helps protect them during gaming and handling. Apply gently to avoid disturbing the surface texture.
