They frequently take charge of a demi-company or strike force on the battlefield, managing squad-level coordination and leading by example. This allows their Captains to concentrate on broader strategic decisions across the war zone.

A Primaris Lieutenant serves as a key HQ unit for any Adeptus Astartes faction, including Blood Angels, Dark Angels, and Space Wolves, where he acts as the Primaris Battle Leader. Equipped for close combat, he carries a power sword and bolt pistol, and wears Mark X power armour decorated with a reliquary and laurel wreaths.
