Matt Black is the dead-flat black that belongs on every painting station — the foundation for lining, shading, and basecoating anything that needs to start from true darkness. No sheen, maximum depth, endlessly useful.
Best for
Basecoating and blocking in
Lining and shading recesses
Mixing to deepen any colour
A drop of Matt Black darkens any colour cleanly without the sheen you get from cheaper blacks — the reliable anchor of the whole palette.
The flat black no station should be without. Pair it with a grey highlight and the wider Vallejo Model Color range.
