One of the late-war greens that changed the Luftwaffe's look. RLM 81 was introduced as the new standard upper-surface colour in summer 1944, and this darker green rendition is based on one of the three officially approved formulas that varied with each manufacturer's available materials. Note: in the past this colour was sometimes mistakenly identified as RLM 83.
Best for
Late-war Luftwaffe upper surfaces from summer 1944
Fw 190 D-9, Bf 109 K and late-war jets
Modellers wanting the dark green RLM 81 formula
Pair it with RLM 82 for that end-of-war green-on-green scheme — the look of the Luftwaffe's final, desperate months.
The dark green of the late-war Luftwaffe. Pair it with RLM 82 and RLM 76 from the AK Real Colors range.
