Getting believable browns onto a model comes down to smooth steps between tones, and that's exactly what the Flexible Triad system is built for. This Ruddy Browns set gives you a family of browns that move cleanly from dark to light in one consistent hue, so bark, leather and fur come out looking properly natural rather than flat and one-note.
What's in the box
7 x 18ml Warpaints Fanatic acrylics, part of Army Painter's Flexible Triad PLUS+ system
The full Ruddy Browns triad — Oak Brown, Tree Ancient, Dryad Brown, Fur Brown, Ruddy Umber and Buffed Hide — for a clean dark-to-light progression
A seventh complementary colour, Banshee Brown, developed with John Blanche for the Masterclass Series
Best for
Tree bark, leather armour, textured fur and earthen terrain
Layering and highlighting without jarring colour jumps between shades
Because every colour in the set is designed to sit next to its neighbours, you can build up highlights and shadows with none of the guesswork of mixing your own transitions.
Natural brown shading, sorted straight out of the box. See the rest of the range in Warpaints Fanatic, or browse Army Painter paint sets for more Flexible Triads.
