Rinse brushes frequently in clean water during painting sessions. After each session, clean thoroughly with brush soap or a dedicated brush cleaner, reshape the tip with your fingers, and store tip-up or flat. Never leave brushes standing in water as this permanently bends the bristles.
Use dedicated airbrush cleaning fluid rather than water alone. Flush through the airbrush between colours and at the end of each session until the fluid runs completely clear. This prevents paint buildup in the needle and nozzle.
Mild washing-up liquid works for emergency brush cleaning. However, dedicated brush soap conditions the bristles as well as cleaning, significantly extending brush life. For airbrushes, always use dedicated airbrush cleaning fluid.
A full deep clean every few sessions is recommended, more frequently if you use heavily pigmented or metallic paints. Remove the needle and nozzle, soak in cleaning fluid, and wipe carefully with a soft cloth.
